Kindergarten Owls

The Kindergarten has been learning about owls!  Earlier I posted the clay owls we were working on.  Here are some freshly painted ones!

Preschool Shape Frogs

Using a variety of shapes, students created frogs!

Kindergarten Kandinsky Trees

This is one of my favorite lessons we did a couple of months ago.  Students discovered the work of Kandinsky and created trees inspired by his work.

Preschool Y is for Yarn

The letter of the week in preschool is Y!  We created these really neat yarn prints using old cafeteria trays, yarn, and paint.

6th Grade Plaster Masks

We are in the middle of creating the annual plaster masks!  This lesson is very very messy but the kids love it so much!

4th Grade Crazy Cactus

We are in the middle of creating a crazy cactus in fourth grade!  Students are creating bright patterns, adding paper spines and will finish off with puff paint.

3rd Grade Tibetan Mandala's

Students were introduced to the incredible Tibetan sand mandalas that are created by Buddhist monks.  Tibetan sand mandalas are created to remind us of the never ending cycle of life and death.  After taking weeks to create, these mandalas are dismantled in a closing ceremony.  The sands are swept up and dispersed to the audience and a nearby flowing body of water to spread healing energy throughout the world.  We reviewed symmetry and radial symmetry to create our own mandala.

2nd Grade Psychadelic Sand Dollars

Using pastels, second grade students practiced overlapping shapes and creating patterns!  To finish off, they got to add some glitter glue.
